Rear Extension – Drainage Diversion & Groundworks
This project shows the early-stage works for a rear extension, focusing on full drainage diversion, ground preparation, and site setup. Before starting brickwork or foundations, our team carried out essential underground works to ensure the new extension is fully compliant, waterproof, and structurally sound. ⚙️ Scope of Works Completed: 1️⃣🛠 Excavation & Exposure of Existing Services - Careful excavation along the property boundary - Identification of existing clay and plastic drainage lines - Removal of debris, collapsed soil and old brickwork - Safe working area created with temporary weather protection 2️⃣🛠 Full Drainage Diversion & Reconfiguration - Installation of a new three-way drainage chamber - Redirection of foul and surface water lines to accommodate the extension footprint - Removal of old damaged pipework - New 110mm underground drainage installed with correct falls - Proper connection of rainwater downpipe into the new drainage system 3️⃣🛠 Bedding & Structural Support - All new pipework bedded on compacted MOT/gravel and concrete haunching - Chambers set at correct levels for future access and maintenance - Testing for flow and leak prevention 4️⃣🛠 Ground Preparation for Extension Build - Trench clearing for future foundation pouring - Protection of existing structure - Site organised for next phase: foundation works and slab preparation 🏗 Purpose of These Works - Proper drainage to avoid future flooding - Compliance with UK Building Regulations (Part H) - Long-term structural stability - Safe integration of new rainwater and foul water systems
